Denon reveals $1,099 network-enabled integrated amp

Denon has announced the arrival of the compact PMA-150H integrated network amplifier, priced at $1,099, which will connect to CD players, TVs, turntables and USB devices. The unit includes Denon’s own HEOS Built-in tech for music streamed over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wired ethernet via the HEOS app, or via Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect. The company says that the use of its AL32 Processing Plus analog waveform reproduction technology combined with Direct Digital Feedback Amplification (DDFA) improves the listening experience for music lovers.

“Denon has long been renowned for world class audio components, and the PMA-150H integrated network amplifier continues that tradition of audio excellence. It is designed for the audio enthusiast who doesn’t have the space for a traditional full-size component audio system, but wants amazing-sounding audio, support for high resolution wireless music streaming and the ability to connect all of their analog and digital sources,” said Michael Greco, senior director Denon brand management. “The amplifier is also simply a beautiful piece of electronics, with 5mm aluminum top and bottom panels designed to minimize vibration and support cooling, the vivid OLED screen and diamond-cut volume ring all demonstrate Denon’s attention to quality and detail.”

Denon has built in autosensing into the first optical port and incorporated IR learn to connect to TVs, so that volume, mute and input selections can be controlled from a TV remote. The amp itself is capable of 70W per channel (4ohm, 1kHz, THD 0.1%) and is suitable for both 4 and 8 ohm speakers, and a dedicated headphone amp circuit provides for low distortion performance and a discrete final output stage. It has an adjustable impedance control to support various headphone products, while the 1/4-inch jack itself enables compatibility with pro headphones too.

The PMA-150H has a low-profile form factor, measuring 11”W x 4.1”H x 12.6”D, and features an soft aluminum matte top and bottom panels with OLED, gloss black and silver accents. The new amp is compatible with high-resolution digital audio files, namely ALAC, FLAC and WAV lossless files up to 192 kHz/24-bit, and supports DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz tracks (SACD format).
