Creative releases Sound Blaster Katana V2X soundbar

Creative Technology has announced the availability of the Sound Blaster Katana V2X gaming soundbar, priced at $279.99 at the company’s online store. Creative says the new product has been re-engineered to suit smaller spaces while also being easier on the pocket, and is a slimmed-down alternative to the award-winning V2.

The V2X is claimed to free up real estate with a subwoofer that is 40% smaller than its predecessor, and the peak power output of 180W “makes perfect sense” for gaming set-ups in smaller rooms. Creative promises that the soundbar retains the familiar sound signature of a high-end Sound Blaster with hi-fi multichannel audio via its tri-amped DSP-driven Xamp technology. Onboard Super X-Fi headphone holography will recreate the soundstage of a high-end multi-speaker system inside headphones for late-night gaming binges.

The SXFI BATTLE mode highlights in-battle audio cues for directionality and distance, while Scout Mode focuses on sound detection so that opponents are heard before they are seen moving on screen. For movies, the integrated Dolby Audio decoder allows movie-watching on streaming platforms Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and Apple TV+. The Creative app enables audio customization and a choice of RGB illumination modes, which are saveable on the app itself or on the programmable remote buttons.

Connectivity options include HDMI ARC, optical ports, wireless Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C port for USB audio, 3.5mm AUX-in and SXFI-out for certified Super X-Fi products. The Katana VX2 is compatible with desktops and consoles, including PC, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. For more information, visit the VX2 product page here.

the main sound bar is the same as the last Kantana V2.
the only thing that differs, as mentioned in Creative's product specification page, is the sub-woofer. it's not just the size of the woofer box had shrunk, the bass driver had shrunk as well. from previous 6inch to 5.25inch.
