Brand new, in the factory sealed box, this DVD player is the last of it’s kind: It has the original software (ship date: May 2004) which allows copy-protected upscaling of DVDs to 1080i or 720p over either the Component or DVI output. This capability was removed from all upscaling players available in the USA shortly after this date! This player was very highly praised because it used the Faroudja chip to do the upscaling. Faroudja was the state-of-the-art upscaling processor available when this player was produced. It displayed a fabulous picture, and compares favorably to the upscaling players of today.
