The French Blu I own looks quite good. But a newer transfer taken from a 4k restoration would lead to a second purchase for me.

It appears that the French release is the least expensive right now. Half the price of Germany.

Probably the same, but I'm sure it will look better than my DVD.

Please clarify.
Are you saying that if it ends up being a "4K restoration" you would make a second purchase,
or are you saying that it has already been written up as being a confirmed "4K restoration"?
Such a release would hasten my purchase of a Region-Free Player.

Something devoutly to be wished. Romeo, and Taming, have some of the most sumptuous cinematography of the era.

Clever on the Hamlet quote.
My variation on that soliloquy would be about these hopeful transfers...
4K or not 4K, that is the question?

If memory serves (and it certainly doesn't always), the film was pretty grainy in its theatrical release. I always prefer that to the scrubbed and washed editions we too frequently see on Blu-ray.
I am the opposit... I prefer no or very little film grain. Each to his own, I guess.
