Exorcist was remixed (badly I might add) into stereo in both 4.1 and 2.0 flavors over 40 years ago using the mono DMEs. The Omen was taken from the DME mag track with multichannel stereo music from the original London session tapes. Omen II was originally in mono but the old dvd featured a Dolby Surround mix presumably created in the same way. Final Conflict was always in stereo, and I assume the 5.1 on the most recent releases was created from the 4-track mag of that mix.

True, but the last time that mix was heard was on the original 1997 DVD. The 5.1 on the 25th Anniv. DVD and the Blu-ray seems to have gone back to the original mono stems. It's more restrained, and it doesn't contain any of the added SFX from the 1979 remix.
