Well, the bad news is that the creative genisus in Hollywood are remaking Plan 9 From Outer Space.

The Good news? We get a new DVD out of the deal:

"Plan 9" is being made with the blessing and participation of Conrad Brooks, the sole surviving member of the original film's cast and crew. To go as a sister project to the remake, director Johnson and actor Brooks plan to do a commentary for the original film with a Q + A retrospective for its 2 disc DVD release with no set street date at the moment, however the new film is scheduled to premiere on September 9, 2009 (09.09.09).

A two disc special edition? Who would have thought Ed would have had it so good! The big question now is: does it come with an Angora sweater?

A remake? Oh god no! The blessing and participation of the last surviving cast or crew member? Well WHOOP-DEE-DOO! Like that means a damn thing...

DVD could be alright, I'll wait to see how it compares to the one I got in that boxset.

Legend Films version looks pretty damn good (Both Colorized and B&W...I know, I know, but what can I say, the colorized version actually looks pretty good for once.) and has some fairly nice extras so I'll pass....one copy of P9FOS in my collection is enough as far as I am concerned. ;)

Okay, I have what some might think is a dumb question. The film is bad, but assuming one wants to get a copy of it on DVD (I love these types of films), which is the 'best' one to purchase?

Colonel Tom Edwards: Why is it so important that you want to contact the governments of our earth?

Eros: Because of death. Because all you of Earth are idiots.

Jeff Trent: Now you just hold on, Buster.

Eros: No, you hold on. First was your firecracker, a harmless explosive. Then your hand grenade: you began to kill your own people, a few at a time. Then the bomb. Then a larger bomb: many people are killed at one time. Then your scientists stumbled upon the atom bomb, split the atom. Then the hydrogen bomb, where you actually explode the air itself. Now you can arrange the total destruction of the entire universe served by our sun: The only explosion left is the Solaranite.

Colonel Tom Edwards: Why, there's no such thing.

Maybe we can finally see the film in its OAR...

Of course, that may remove some of the best gags so both matted and unmatted versions should be included!!!
