Ben-Hur

The Ten Commandments

Raintree County

3-D films from the 1950’s in Blu-ray 3d

3-strip Cinerama films in the smile-box process

Also, I would like to see the following films (promoted as being “In CINERAMA”). They don’t have to be in the smile-box process. They should have 5.1 sound too.

Holiday in Spain

Mediterranean Holiday

The Golden Head

La Fayette

The Flaming Years

The Black Tulip

Custer of the West

Krakatoa East of Java

Song of Norway

Until they formally announce release dates that is all I can say.

I would say the most recogniable opening sequence in 70MM would be "The Sound of Music" which is already on Blu-ray....so my second guess might be "West Side Story"

Frank Jenks said "a new scan of a title that rightly deserves" a new scan. In other words a title that has already been scanned (and released on Blu-ray) to an unsatisfactory standard. Patton was an unsatisfactory Blu-ray and Patton has a particularly memorable opening sequence and was an Oscar-winning movie.

Another clue is that he said "viewers will weep (with joy this time.) "This time" meaning they wept for disappointed reasons the last time. ;)

Actually he wrote "viewers will weap (with Joy this time)." One might conclude that capitalization of Joy is a clue, but not a clue that I get. Then again Frank misspells 'weep' so I guess not much should be made of it. I would agree with Greg that the opening of The Sound of Music is the most famous opening of the 65mm Oscar winners. However, I would never use the word "epic" to accurately describe the film.

I Believe Robert Harris mentioned the possibility of "Patton" getting a new transfer recently. Yes "Patton" does have one of the most famous openings of any film and done right we might just weep with joy this time (I thought he was referring to a new transfer of a film not on Blu-ray but a fix for "Patton" seems much more likely) "West Side Story" is supposed to also come out in 2011.

"Greatest Story Ever Told" - not until MGM get's back on it's feet

I want westerns on Blu-ray.

Especially 1950s and 1960s westerns.

Particularly John Ford and Anthony Mann and Delmer Dave and Budd Boetticher westerns.

With the passing of Leslie Nielsen, I'm hoping Paramount will do something with Airplane! and the Naked Gun trilogy.

The funny thing is, I already have it. I guess I am compelled to type THE TOWERING INFERNO every time I type THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE.

To go along with Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, how about finally releasing Kill Bill : The Whole Bloody Affair next year? I know, I know, hell hasn't frozen over yet.

Love to see some Lynch films on Blu, especially Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.

Early Hal Hartley films - Unbelievable Truth, Trust & Simple Men.

At this point I think we have a better chance of seeing the original versions of the Star Wars Trilogy on blu-ray than we do The Whole Bloody Affair.
