Glad to hear that. I hope they corrected the first big mistake in the DVD: The copper wash over the opening credits was gone (though you can see traces in the various dissolves). It was correct in the VHS issues, so why it was wrong on the DVD is a mystery. This is a film that should look spectacular in Blu.

If the ABC HD broadcast from this year is any indication, then we are in for a real treat when The Ten Commandments arrives!!

I only want to watch Blu. DVD just doesn't cut it anymore.

We need truly special editions of all the John Hughes films with all those deleted scenes please. My want list includes:

  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles
  • Uncle Buck
  • Weird Science
  • Sixteen Candles
  • Jaws
  • Almost Famous (US release with both versions of the film)
  • A.I.
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom & Last Crusade
  • Man on the Moon
  • Old Yeller & those classic Disney live action films!
  • Marx Brothers films: all of them!
  • Concerts from The Eagles, R.E.M., and new Roger Waters

Spielberg is still going to be a slow go. I think

we will see at least one of his titles next year (the

most obvious one) but there certainly won't be an

onslaught of them for a while to come it seems.

Also, I would not expect Indiana Jones next year.

Ron, Have you heard if Paramount plans to put "My Fair Lady" on Blu-ray? and did they ever responed to your inquiry for "Once Upon a Time in the West"?

I posted some of this in another thread....

Once Upon A Time In The West is currently not on

their release slate for next year. They will consider

it based on sales for True Grit.

I have seeded the request for the musical Scrooge.

Did not ask about My Fair Lady, but isn't that a

Warner title?

There is a major Paramount catalog title from the

late 50s about to be announced soon and another

from the 60s sometime thereafter. Stay Tuned!

Ten Commandments and Breakfast At Tiffany's? Given how often they have dipped on BAT, I expect that to show up on Bd sooner rather than later.

My Fair Lady is owned by CBS which is now part of Paramount (which is why Paramount issued the last DVD) Warner would do a box set for this film, but they have to get the rights first. I would expect Paramount will release it at some point

"Romeo and Juliet" was the other big 60's title Paramount is rumored to have in the pipe line so possibly? High school kids would rather watch the film then read the book so.....

Ron,

The next time you talk with someone at Universal, could you ask them why their Blu-Rays take so long to load up? "Back to the Future" takes a full four minutes to get to the "Play" option on my Panasonic 60 (and that unfortunately includes pressing fast-forward as quick as possible when the unrelated trailer starts). After pressing "Play" it takes about another two minutes for the film to actually start. Some of that can be avoided by disconnecting the internet, but that's a hassle. I assume some of this is related to BD-Java, but even with that it seems excessive.

I guess you could say that my "want" for 2011 is for the studios to author the disks to get to the films more quickly. I think the situation has gotten a little ridiculous, but it seems Universal is one of the bigger offenders.

I'm with those awaiting the widescreen epics such as Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments and Cleopatra.

But I would also like to hear news about Raintree County.
