I spent a pleasant weekend watching the OSS 117 collection. Of the five films, the two starring Frederick Stafford (Topaz) are the best (Mission for a Killer/Mission to Tokyo), these Eurospy thrillers are similar to the Bond films of the 1960s albeit with lower budgets. What they have in common are good action, great locations and lovely ladies (Mylène Demongeot in Killer).

I watched the following Kino Blu-rays and was very pleased with all four movie presentations and audio commentaries. Its always interesting to watch silent movies and westerns to boot.:)

Three Bad Men is excellent. As far as John Ford’s silent films go, I think it’s his best…even better than The Iron Horse, which I’m also quite fond of.

Question:

I believe the KL insider mentioned KL's most recent deal with Universal included 11 titles from the 60s. Am I correct that KL has released and/or announced 8 of the 11, leaving 3 more announcements to go?

Thank you in advance!

Titles- released and/or announced:

The Brass Bottle
The Pink Jungle
Bedtime Story
Come September
Arabesque
Change of Habit
The Last Sunset
Freud

I’m close to ordering this Spanish region-free version, but hoping it’s one of Kino’s last 3 Universal releases

I hope so as well. The Insider said they had no interest in this during the prior Universal deal, but we know decisions can change.

The version shown on TV is terrible looking but the sound is highly directional. Would like to see an HD version. I thought John Wayne films sold well.

Maybe Kino does not like to release a movie where nearly half of the cast got cancer because they shot it near a nuclear test site.

Hoping that these are in Kino's current Sony deal, which is both very welcome and frustratingly limited in scope (Sony's decision, I'm sure):

The Garment Jungle (1957)
Kiss the Girls and Make Them Die (1966)
Fools' Parade (1971)
Warlords of Atlantis (1978)
Red Rock West (1993)
