Newest songs for me that I find stuck in my head.

Senses Working Overtime by XTC
A Forest, Close to Me, and the awesome Purple Haze cover all by The Cure
What About Love by Til Tuesday
Talk Talk by Talk Talk

I've been listening to alot of Fred XM 44 at work so I've been in an early 80's alternative music mood of late.

"Godwhacker" by Steely Dan. Heard a snippet of it on NPR's All Things Considered and I've been playing it ever since.

"Gold Dust Woman" by Fleetwood Mac. don't know why.

"Tears of a Clown" Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, sharing
playback time with the version by the English Beat.

Well, how about "100 Years" by Five For Fighting. Better than most anything new I've heard recently (at least on the radio).

Well...OK. But only if you check out mine below...:D

Slentbjenn by Hoven Droven has been a favourite for about 6-7 years now and will continue to be. Love, love, love this band. Electrified Swedish folk that will shake your little booty. Look here for samples.

The Electric Version, From Blown Speakers and The Laws Have Changed by The New Pornographers. The opening 3 tracks from their latest disc "The Electric Version". Fabulous power pop with the great Neko Case helping on vocals. Amazon.com link with music samples.

Global Citizen by the Dave Holland Quintet from the superlative jazz disc "Not For Nothin'". Amazon.com link with music samples.

Margerine Melodie - Stereolab, from Margerine Eclipse.

They seem to have converged the experimental bent with the pop sensibilities especially well on this one, and it just might be their catchiest album yet... which is saying something. The lyrics to this particular song are quintessential Stereolab (politics/the body/evolution). Yep, the 'Lab have retained their number one spot on my favorite bands list with this release, and they've been there longer than any other group.

Oh... and it sounds GREAT on heavy vinyl!

"Signs" - Creed ('tardy' I know, but I just recently finally bought Weathered).

"I Want Your Love" - Chic (from the tardily-discovered live album Live At the Budokan recorded in Tokyo in 1996 very shortly before Bernard Edwards' untimely death).
