Keeping the "Movie Snob" hat out of it altogether and speaking just as a SW fan boy, I'm voting for Episode II.
I'm surprised that I am, but I am. I just loved it!

I have to go with Attack Of the Clones because The Phantom Menace and Return Of The Jedi did have more of a cartoony feel, but "those damn teddy bears" are a hell of allot more amusing than Jar-Jar and the Gungin's(sp?) ever where. A New Hope suffered the same kind of fate that The Phantom Menace did because it basically just introduces the characters and does not develop the story so much. (e.g. we meet a bunch of charecters, a young soon to be Jedi blows something up) So it comes down to Attack Of The Clones and The Empire Strikes Back. I pick Attack Of The Clones because it had allot more character development, and does not end on such a down note. Im sure this is not that objective because with I, II, III we know exactly what is going to happen in the end. We know Anakin will turn, we know he will have twins. etc

After Phantom Menace I was a little disappointed, but Attack Of the Clones renewed my faith in Star Wars. But IMHO I still think George is abusing special effects and although its not as bad as Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones still looks a little glassy and pastel.

Im goint to watch IV, V, and VI again soon so mabey watching them after ATOC will chane my oppinion but I doubt it.

Functions great as a stand-alone story with a lot of implied mythology. A wonderful adventure with unforgettable characters.
ESB: :star::star::star::star:
Bold, confident follow-up on ANH. The first SW movie I saw in theaters. Understated, haunting, funny, tragic.
RoTJ: :star::star::star:
Difficult to follow up the events of ESB without seeming rushed, but still does a great job. Endor scenes are the first sign of the 'new Lucas.' The Emporer/Luke/Vader scenes are appropriately dramatic and well played.
TPM: :star::star: 1/2
An altogether fun chapter with a lot of eye candy and amazing visuals and art/costume design. Actors seem overwhelmed. The environments aren't interactive and instead act as 'screen savers' behind plodding 'meeting' sequences. But still fun.
AoTC: :star::star::star: 1/2
Lucas has brushed the cobwebs off of his directorial instincts and crafted a fine piece of entertainment and subtle mythos. Better acting and pacing than TPM, although at times the actors still seem overwhelmed. A couple of headscratching lines and moments.. but overall a very confident movie that is receiving far more derision and anger than it deserves.

The "teddy bears" never bothered me and I think ROTJ is a great conclusion to the original trilogy.

A second viewing may bump it up half a star. The last 40 minutes were awesome, but it lacked a human element and suffered from awful dialogue.

It had its moments but overall an embarassment to the Star Wars name.

Attack of the Clones was amazing! Seeing it on the big screen was one of the greastest cinematic experiences I've ever had. I am only a casual Star Wars fan, but I was blown away with the quality of AOTC.
