The little grammar guru chimes in: Bill and Matt have appropriately ommitted the apostrophes from the decade listings; use an apostrophe only when indicating a possessive:

1940s: Citizen Kane

1950s: Paths of Glory

1960s: 2001: A Space Odyssey

1970s: too much from which to choose vis. 1971-1975...

1980s: none (except for Full Metal Jacket, and I'm fully aware of the pattern developing here)

1990s: Eyes Wide Shut, Goodfellas (though released in 1990), Thin Red Line, etc.
