With the growing of our DVD collections there are always DVDs that we forget we own. What’s your most surprise find in your own DVD collection?! I was looking at my DVDs today and was shocked to find 2 DVDs of Star Wars - Phantom Menace and at 2 different places! Now I’m thinking why and when I purchased a second copy?!

I purchased Dr Strangelove twice because with 1187 DVDs it hard to remember all of them [IMG]

I've never purchased anything twice, but occasionally when I'm looking at my DVD collection I notice some really awful horror movie. I usually just chalk it up to getting greedy at the Walmart Discount Bin [IMG]

I have another one. Again today I saw one of my very very first DVD purchases and it’s the “Little Shop of Horrors: Special Edition”! This is the rare original release! This is all I remember. I remember that I heard back then that I should keep this because it’s exceptional and for later releases they are going to change it. It was a special feature or something.

Someone snuck into my apartment and stuck a couple of pornographic DVDs in my collection when I wasn't looking. How DAAARRE they!! How disGUSTing! One of them did have the multi-angle feature, which was kinda cool, but otherwise a dirty, shameful deed. Tsk tsk and all that.

NOTE: Sam, that's the LITTLE SHOP containing the original ending in black & white.

Yes now I remember! I remember how excited I was at that time to have a rare item! It was 6 years ago and at the beginning of the DVD era.

Sam, I think that thing's worth a pretty penny these days. Must say, it's nice to actually have titles in my collection that are actually collectible, including LITTLE SHOP and some of the out-of-print Criterions and early Image Universal titles (MST3K MOVIE, DOUBLE INDEMNITY, etc). Can't say I ever had a VHS tape that was worth much.

That happens to one of my friends too but he doesn’t get surprised anymore!

Yes it’s nice to know you have something rare. I didn’t get "Little Shop of Horrors" because I knew the movie or was a fan of it. I just got it because I heard it’s rare! Yes I’m ashamed! The other *maybe* rare item is the original "Devil's Advocate". Is this as rare as “Little Shop of Horrors” too?

Nothing like this for DVD's, but I found out that I had purchased two copies of the Beatles album, Help!

This wasn't obvious until I realized that I was listening to the CD on my PC, yet it was still in my CD wallet...

    Sam,

But seriously folks, I keep a list on my palm pilot so I never accidentally buy the same disc twice -- this happened with one of the numbered Star Trek volumes back in the olden days.

I have R2 DVD's of Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldeneye. It was the very first UK release way back in 1998. They are in very nice heavy jewel cases. I find them quite surprising that I still have them. I also have the TND R1 SE with the silver cover. And early R1 THX DVD's of The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. Are they worth anything?

I remember those. I had them! I feel old!

I was also very surprised today to find Star Wars Episode 4-5-6 DVDs in my collection! [IMG]

    .

Feel free to send one my way! [IMG] I have AOTC, but didn't get around to grabbing the first. Now it's OOP!! lol

Anyway, a couple of months ago, I was leafing through my DVD collection and found "Puppetry of the Penis: Live at the Forum". How it got there is beyond me. I basically chalked it up to the conclusion that my ex-girlfriend bought it at one time or another.

I rent a lot from Netflix.

The other day I told my wife that I enjoyed The Secret Window quite a bit, and thought I would buy it. She then reminded me that I had purchased it, we didn't rent it from Netflix.

    It happens....

I was sorting dvds after finally getting our rack in place and was kinda surprised to find out that we still have two copies of Ghostbusters. My wife and I bought the movie before we got married. I had completely forgotten about it.
