Break out your old-school roller skates and come visit the Boombox Museum
intesting stuff. sadly, i sorta remember those days. johnny
I had one of those! It was a glorious day when one of the neighbors got a new large appliance, it meant a new large piece of cardboard.
Cooooool! I was The Boombox King back in the early 80's. I got a new one about every 18 months or so...just to stay ahead of the times. I fondly remember saving my pennies from my little job. Minimum was was $2.35 back then. :b
Brings back memories. I thought perhaps I'd find a photo of my old boombox, a GE with giant woofers, digital tuner, cassette, one pair of RCA inputs (through which I ran a Technics turntable through a Radio Shack phono pre-amp). The cassette, tuner and all buttons and dials were stacked in a slim rectangle between the two speakers. All who saw this beast (it was also fairly thing in depth) were visually impressed, and the sound wasn't too bad. Got it in 1984 and it went to university with me the following year. I think it's still in my parent's garage (though probably in sad shape). Good stuff
great site, thank you rich
