    Matt
    Very Cool!
They were repeats when I use to watch them with my Grandfather .... Groucho was always great.
Are any other episodes on DVD?

Excerpts from from the press release:

“GROUCHO MARX ‘YOU BET YOUR LIFE’—THE LOST EPISODES” 3 DVD BOX SET SEPTEMBER 23rd

The box set will be released September 23rd by Shout! Factory and includes 18 episodes of “You Bet Your Life” available on DVD for the first time, almost 40 minutes of hilarious outtakes, Groucho’s audition demo, and show memorabilia that are a Groucho Marx collector’s dream come true.

Produced by Paul Brownstein, the episodes were painstakingly restored in conjunction with the film archives at UCLA and are accompanied by a 24-page booklet from noted Groucho historian Robert S. Bader. The release of “The Lost Episodes” marks the first time in nearly fifty years that the majority of these episodes of “You Bet Your Life” will be seen.

The box set “The Lost Episodes” includes approximately 9 hours of the hit show, plus never-before-seen “cutting room floor material.” All material was licensed by Shout! Factory from NBC and Groucho Marx Productions.
“Groucho Marx--‘You Bet Your Life’—The Lost Episodes” is a historical tribute to a man that will live on as an American comedic icon. With bonus material ranging from Marx’s nervous test demo tape for the radio show to the reels of outtakes featured on each disc—previously only shown at the show’s sponsors’ conventions

The most infamous remark of Groucho's You Bet Your Life years supposedly occurred when he was interviewing a Mrs. Story, a contestant with twenty-two children (reputedly the largest family in America at the time):

GROUCHO: "Why do you have so many children? That's a big responsibility and a big burden."

MRS. STORY: "Well, because I love my children and I think that's our purpose here on Earth, and I love my husband."

GROUCHO: "I love my cigar, too, but I take it out of my mouth once in a while."

Has anybody gotten this Groucho set yet?

Supposedly it was a 09/23 street date, but DDD for some reason never showed this date on its website, and doesn't seem to want to ship the darn thing. [IMG]

OK, Matt. Thanks. (BTW...Did you notice what Best Buy (B&M variety) is selling this for?)

Still not shipping from DDD. Wonder why?

Anybody else have this ordered from an e-tailer?

I immediately picked it up Tuesday at Best Buy (along with "Lewis Black: Unleashed" and "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes SE") for $37.99.

I have yet to get through the whole set, but I am extremely please with it so far. The stag reel sections are drop dead funny for being only 5m-8m long. And the vintage commericals are pretty cool, but are only for DeSoto autos and are not incorporated into the shows themselves, but separately.

I don't regret buying this at all, and look forward to a second set.

Now if only Groucho's films would get this good of attention on DVD!!!

Thanks Thomas. That's good news you uttered. [IMG]

Deep Discount, it seems, is now starting to ship these sets out. Mine went out at 4:09:20 PM (EST) today [in case you're keeping a log [IMG]]. Previous delay: Unknown. Looks like another case for Bob Stack's "Unsolved Mysteries". [IMG]
