I can't help but think about Adams' description of the sheltered alien race (sky has no stars or moon) that went on a rampage through the galaxy, and the recent articles speculating how the internet has actually helped INCREASE hatred and bigotry throughout the world. That is, because internet communication is instantaneous, rumors and propaganda can spread at the same instantaneous rate. Plus, people tend to only visit websites that broadcast views similar to their own...a feedback loop that spins out of control until everyone goes on a hate-mongering rampage!

Surfing porn is such a naive and innocent activity in comparison.
