What happens when someone of the strangest eclectic cinematic tastes, running from opera to silent film to gore to Eurocult, gets an opportunity to spout off endlessly about DVDs? Well, when that someone is me, he ends up writing 500 reviews for the digitallyObsessed! website! My 500th just went live this morning--Anchor Bay's disc of Kind Hearts and Coronets (recommended, by the way):

I know there are a couple folks on the web with more reviews, but few enough that I thought I'd share the momentous occasion with the HTF. It was here on HTF that dOc editor Bob Mandel read my reviews of some Beethoven symphony DVDs and brought me on as the first writer for his new website, two and a half years ago. It's been a lot of fun ever since. Thanks to Bob and to co-editor debi lee mandel for giving me the opportunity to shoot off my mouth about movies, and webmeister Jesse Shanks and for all the folks at dOc that keep it going. I'm proud to be a substantial chunk of the site with the most region 1 DVD reviews on the web. If you haven't visited us yet, why not? Dare to be different!
    Now, on to 1000! [IMG]

Did you ever notice how Obi Wan gets bumped off in so many of his films?
Dare to be different - run an orange tabby Maine Coon gif once in a while! [IMG]

Thanks guys. [IMG] I do have to admit, though, keeping ahead of Brother Ulmer has been a powerful motivating factor. [IMG]

    Just out of curiousity...

Why aren't there more mainstream movies being reviewed at Digitally Obssessed? I know they review more rare stuff, but they used to review more mainstream material. I guess it's a new approach being taken.

    Dave,

That's why they are so usefull. There are 50 reviewers out there for things like Star Wars. But it's hard to find a review of some lesser-known noir or silent film.

    Mark,

Congrats. I just recently passed 200 last month, so I am forever in awe of someone reaching 500!!! Keep up the amazing work and who knows, at this rate could 1000 be far behind?

Man I feel pathetic! I only have 90 reviews on my Web site, 105 if you include the 15 mini-reviews on the Troma page.

Congrats on the 500 reviews! That's a lot of writing!

thanks for asking, dave, and thanks to dennis, who sums it up just about right. there are so many fascinating, unsung titles out there, we can't do them all... try as we might

case in point: mark zimmer and his mightily eclectic body of reviews... he is a force of nature indeed.
