Anyways, after eating that crow I've now watched my first two actually letterboxed DVDs on the projector. Die Hard and Die Hard II. And um, ya, I don't like letterboxed DVD's in comparison to anamorphic ones (on my old 4:3 43" Sony it was the other way around ).
They look fine when framed within a 4:3 portion of the 16:9 screen. But when you blow them up to fill the whole screen width they loose something. Depending on the scene it ranges from just about as good as an anamorphic disc to noticably worse.
