I am using a plate amp from Rythmik audio to build a DIY sub and was wondering if it was necessary to use a y cable? Is there any benefit from using a Ycable vs. a single RCA connector? Also if I use an RCA do I plug it in the red or white RCA(I might need to e-mail rythmik audio but I am just seeing if anyone knows)?

Some say using a Y cable will help the auto-on circuit of the amp pickup the signal at lower volumes. Otherwise, it doesn't matter. Your're sending a LFE signal which is mono.

I always use them, more just because I always have.

Many people report a significant jump in DB when using one -vs- not using one with their particular Sub/Amp....
