YAMAHA RX-V573BL 7.1-Channel Network AV Receiver is on sale at Newegg markeddown from 499.99 to 339.99. Is this AVR at this price point worth the $$$? Reviews seem to be pretty good.

Considering Yamaha "never" go on sale. Yep. That makes it less than $100 more than a 373. Or pick up the 673 for another $40....if the 673 has "any other feature" you might want.

The features "worth the $40"...(and there are more...but these three by themselves make the "rest" cake) 12v trigger(in case you ever want to do a 2nd zone) 500ms lip sync...vs 250ms on the 573. The "network" is included on the "background video"..which it isn't on the 573...

But I guess I could buy another pair of speakers for the presence feature on the 673

Hehehe...I didn't read the fine print. Didn't realize the 573 was $160 off....and the 673 was "regular price", but you get $220 to spend elsewhere... Pick your poison I guess... I will say this. The GUI on the 673/RX-A is absolutely fabulous.

What do you think of the 110w/7 (573) compared to the 90w/7 on the 673
Meaningless. If you go to the actual Yamaha page(I'll link the "direct comparo"...if it works...as a link)... The 110(the Yamaha page says 115w 1kz, 1 channel) is based on one channel at a time at 1kz. The 673 is based on 2 channels at 1kz. A 1kz "spec" is utterly retarded. What matters is a full 20hz/20khz spec...which the 673 wins by landslide... http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/?selected=372797_372795_&mode=compare

The 673 weighs roughly 3 pounds more. The bulk of that is power supply. Bigger power supply means all the channels have more "instant juice".

By the way, Yamaha is just about the only AVR maker that doesn't show on the back how much power it takes off the wall(at full bore)... You'd have to download the manuals. I'm willing to bet the 673 pulls around 1amp more power than the 573. Translation? More "oomph" in your sound.

Well, although you talked up the 673 pretty good. With a budget in mind, and the limited time I will have to use the avr I think Im going to go with the 573.

Like I said...it all comes down to whether the extra features are worth it... And yeah $160 off is hard to compete with. If NewEgg sells any 373 by tomorrow night(when the $160 ends)...buyers are pretty much "just plain stupid"...
