Hello all,

So after I returned from work today I noticed my sound was cutting in and out from my speakers connected to my Yamaha RX-V383 receiver. The sound is going from the ARC input in the receiver to the ARC output on the TV. I noticed on my front display where it shows the speaker icons for L-C-R- etc they were flashing and every time they flashed the sound would cut out. I have tried resetting the receiver to factory default and unplugging everything and plugging it back in. Not sure if there is a short and its damaged or there is some configuration somewhere to stop it from flashing the speaker icons.

I have the same issue with my V383, and fix it by changing its input to the assigned "Audio 1" for my optical input from the Sony TV. I could never get ARC sound from the TV. I only use ARC now for consolidating multiple remote volume controls. ARC does weird things and I simply have to find work-arounds. (Such as unexplained changing of the AVR input each time I turn the TV on or change it's source. AVR TV-Scene button changes the TV input to ARC, which only allows me to program the AVR.)

I had the same problem. I fixed it by going to "set up" then "sound" then go down to "virtual surround back speaker" and turn it off. That should do it. I'm guessing its because I have a 5.1 speaker set up and that setting may be for 7.1 or a setup with elevation speakers like 5.1.2 or 7.1.2. Again thats just a guess as to the why of it but setting your "virtual surround back speaker" to off should fix it.
