i have a dvd player hooked into the
receiver. i use the s-video and the fiber optic connects. i am not using the
composite, red and white analog audio hookups. how come when i
turn on the receiver, the on screen display on the tv says audio: analog and
the receiver display only shows PCM and the DIGITAL light never comes on.
also i have 7 speakers hooked up. two front, center, two rear and two
surround. but the receiver display (right corner) only shows front
    left and front right.

what am i doing wrong? this receiver is very difficult to set up!

also, one more thing, my old yamaha receiver rx-v995 used to detect i
have a dts disc in my dvd player and would automatically switch
to dts. on this receiver, even though i am playing dts, i could have
the receiver set to dts or dolby digital ii, or any other dsp setting.
whats going on?! i did run through the auto setup.

I also have the RX-V1400. The only thing I can think of is make sure the input mode is set to "auto", see page 34 of the manual. Let me know if this helps or not.
