Well here's my first post...
I've been using a Yamaha RX-A1000 receiver through my 7.1 speaker set up for a few months at home and generally I'm very happy with it, with one exception...
My old Denon AVR-3805 had a feature where a 5.1 source (eg dolby digital or DTS) it could output to the rear speakers as well as the surround (for those with 7.1 speaker set-ups), so outputting 7.1 from 5.1. I imagine the rear speakers were probably just mirroring the surrounds. The newer Yamaha doesn't seem to be able to do this. I can get 7.1 fine from a 2.0 source via Prologic II cinema, DTS Neo or the receivers "CinemaDSP" setting. However when I switch to a multi channel (5.1) source I can only ever get 5.1. I'd really like to get some sound from the rears, even if just for presence.
Any suggestions?
