I need to decide between the Yamaha 5560 and the new Kenwood VR-6070. I can get either through an employee accomodation for the same price. Which would be the better receiver? Both have pre-outs and I do plan on picking up a good amp in a few months.

I too would like opinions on this one. I was in Future Shop today and saw the 6060 & 6070 for the first time. I was there because the Yamaha 5560 was on sale, but it turned out to only be $25 off. That is not enough to sway my decision.

Remember that de Yamaha 5560 don't have DTS ES 6.1 discrete (only matrix:frowning: ), but the Kenwood 6060-6070 does.

I suppose the Kenwood 6070 is the sucessor of 5070, what's new in this model? Where can I find more info about it? (Kenwood USA website it's not updated).

By the way, AFAIK, the 5070 has 2 32-bit DSP, 14 digital inputs & HDCD decoding.....

Anyone?

Also, since I'll end up with an amp anyways power isn't that big of a concern. So between the two does anybody have an opinion on which does the processing better?

BTW, thanks for the info on the 6070.

The Yamaha HAS more DSP power than the Kenwood.
In the Kenwood website, you can see: DSP Processor: 32-Bit ADI Melody
AFAIK Yamaha works with 42-bit DSP (made by..... Yamaha)
