Does anyone know if this player supports HD-DVD's or Blue-ray DVD's?

I looked online but don't see anything related to either.

If anyone has any idea please let me know.

    Thanks-
    Scott

Yamaha’s website will say if it does.

Well that is just it. I am guessing it doesn't because I don't see anything related to HD DVD. I do see many other logos, I am assuming no but I wanted to confirm as it does seem to produce an HD picture.

    Guess I am confused.

No, the Yamaha DVD-C950 does not produce a high defintion picture, it is an upconverting universal changer. That means that over the HDMI connection it will up-convert standard 480i DVD video to 480p, 720p or 1080i, for compatible displays. Up-conversion is not HD, it is just re-scaling of a standard defintion video signal.

The C-950 plays standard DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and SACD disks. It does not play HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disks.

Whats the best pic you'll get without the HDMI? I'm having abit of a time choosing between the 750 and the 950 and i wouldnt use the HDMI.

From a C950 the highest resolution you will get over the component video outputs is 480P.
