According to the manual -

The DRX-730 downmixes multi-channel sources, such as Dolby Digital and DTS, into a 2-channel stereo mix that you can enjoy through the speakers connected to the DRX-730.

This is simply not working. What I get is the front 2 channels from 5.1 and no dialog etc that would normally come through the center speaker.
I have tried about 10 different DVDs selecting DD 3/2.1 with the same result - no downmixing.
Does any one have a solution for this?

I have an older Yamaha RX-V995 and the solution on that model is to turn off all dsp modes. On my receiver, I believe it is called Effect Off. I also turn off the surround and center channels. This will force the receiver to downmix 5.1 to 2-channel stereo.

At least, I think that is how I have it set up. I am away from home right now so I can't verify that.
