I am in the market for a new receiver. I have narrowed it down to Yamaha but due to current budget I like the 5740 just because I noticed that the 5760 has Ypao I think that this function will not benefit me because I already have an spl meter. I just want a receiver to run my speakers properly.

    I have paradigm speaker
    titans for fronts
    cc170 center
    titans for surrounds
    velodyne cht10

    Any input would be appreciated.

The 5760 gives you preouts for all channels so you wouldn't have to buy a new receiver or processor if you wanted to just add an amp, say a 2channel amp for your left/right speakers...

Down the line of course...you wouldn't need it for the Titans.

Thanks Drew I do plan on upgrading in the future to paradigm studio 40's for fronts and the studio 470 center though.

    Bryan,

What kind of price differences are you seeing between the 5740 and 5760? Personally, I'd pick the 5760 - it's a very good receiver for the money.

Thanks guys I was just trying to save $150 but is sounds like it is worth saving a few extra dollars for the 5760.

I went with the 5740 becuase I already own a spl meter and I never take advantage of the pre-outs. I just get a new reciever [IMG] .

That is the reason why I looked at the 5740 because I noticed for an amp that they are very ezpensive I don't think I can justify that kind of price to the wife on top of my speaker addiction.
