Yahama V HK or equivalent

    I am looking to get a received for my 1st HT System.
    I have narrowed it down to the following 2:
    Harman Kardon AVR 630 7.1 Receiver
    OR
    Yahama HTR 5890

    Which do you recommend? Any other I should look at?

    Tough call really....

    I actually auditioned that 5890 last weekend and was pretty impressed. If paired with Boston Acoustics Speakers, the Yamaha, if paired with Klipsch the H/K.

    Not that I found the Yamaha bright in particular but old dogma has me making that suggestion.

    One thing about the Yamaha, it did have muscle, and it's pre/pro section and video handling is amazing.

    I liked it so much I suggested it to somebody, and we are going to install it this weekend.
