There hasn't been one announced, but knowing Columbia, there will probably be a Superbit. They just can't help themselves. Has anyone else noticed a lower quality of regular Columbia releases since the introduction of Superbit? Makes you wonder ...

James,

For the simple fact that this is a CTS/Sony picture there is
that slight possibility there will be a Superbit version down the road. For this fact alone, I will always hold out for the inevitable. I refuse to buy the first version when knowing there will be a superbit later.
Just my .02 cents.

later!

I definitely agree. There have been several titles they have released which look good, but I expected to look better (including Spider-Man). It also appears that Columbia is expanding their Superbit releases, evidenced by the next batch coming out. I would expect more and more Superbits as time goes on.

xXx is crying for a Superbit release and I would take a guess that we will see one by the end of next year or in 2004.

I always wait at least 6 months on columbia titles unless it is a movie I don't mind double dipping on... and xxx isn't one of them.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a superbit version either. Especially since Rob Cohan likes his movies loud and was not able to produce a DTS track for this version. I still bought this version though, at $14.99 its and impulse buy.

I am still holding on to my XXX dollars.

A taiwanese forum had made a comparison on the video bit rate of the R3 and R1 release.
R1 release looks slightly dimmer with lower bit rate than the R3 release...R3 release looks more high res...

(Minority Report's DTS sound blows this one away for me hands down),
Whoa, you must have a defective disc. Picked up each last night... First watched xXx and then Minority Report.
First off... xXx is a MUCH better film than Minority Report. I detested Fast and Furious for it's storyline but everything they did wrong on that is right in this. It's mindless fun.
Picture... if you're waiting for a superbit, don't. This is an excellent transfer. I understand that Spielberg filmed Minority Report with lots of whites and blacks but I believe the transfer for xXx is much higher.
Sound... Nothing short of WOW!!!

This is the BEST DD 5.1 Sound Mix I've ever heard. And this is coming from a guy who looks for DTS films to support his H/T. We watched Minority Report after in DTS and were still raving about xXx after Tom Cruise was off the screen. Minority Report was ordinary.
Long and short on xXx GET THIS FILM!!! BTW the aspect is 2.40 to 1.
Ron's review is anxiously anticipated.

If you even think that you would like this movie {an updated 'Super Spy' {aka: an American James Bond for the '00 crowd }]

If you are just waiting for the "Superbit" release then you might be missing out...

My copy of x-X-x came with a coupon for a free movie from CTHE for only shipping cost.

For me this breaks down to two action movies for less than $10 each.

Audio is great.
Video to me is disappointing.
I'm glad I only rented it. I'd hate to think the studio is intentionally not doing a good transfer job to promote Superbit demand...

I disagree. The image looked good but not exceptional. I thought it seemed a bit soft at times, and it didn't live up to the levels I expect of a recent, big-budget flick.

As for your preference for xXx as a movie over Minority Report - well, to each his own, I suppose!

I have to agree with Keith I that ALL of the bullet sounds are soft on this soundtrack. If others disagree, this is very strange indeed. Some dvds I own, gunfire is quite prominent in the mix (Last Man Standing, Resident Evil and Dirty Harry come to mind). The avalanche scene, however, was mega thunderous!
As to the film: I thought it was fun...in an MTV meets Bond sort of way.

I thought this movie was garbage, although entretaining the sequences of stunts and realistic scenarios were very questionable.

How many times could I see that it was clearly not Vin D...shiza!

Also, the avalanche part. DESTROYS EVERYTHING except that 'anorexic' tower....break me off a piece of that shat..

I'd take Glitter over this.

I've read the last post over and over and over... not sure if it was meant to read in Yoda, but I can't figure out what was meant to be said.

If you are questioning the viability of these stunts, don't watch any James Bond movies; it may lead to your undoing.

Anyway... movie reviews should be in the "Movies" thread. As far as the presentation review... those should be here...

I'm doing a search on this forum for "Superbit" so I don't know if this was already posted somewhere else, BUT, Widescreen Review has a Superbit of XXX listed as a May release.
