My DUH! question of the week:

I just changed the OS on this computer to XP Pro; a full install, not an upgrade. My soundcard is a Soundblaster Live MP3 + 5.1. The CDs that came with it (Installation CD and Applications CD) come up as non-compatible with XP.

Everything seems to be working fine without installing any Soundblaster software. Do I really need to download and install any drivers (LiveDrvUni-Pack) or applications, or should I leave well enough alone?

If everything works, I'd leave it be. The software on your CD's that came with the card are prolly made for Win2000 and down.
XP detected your card, and installed the drivers for it. Should you have any trouble, you'll need to lastest drivers from Creative.

Myself, I only update "drivers" when something requires up to date ones (new game or something).

Leave well enough alone indeed. Unless there's some new features that you want or a bug fix for a specific game, upgrading drivers for a creative labs sound card can be a bit of a gamble.
