I've read very frequently on how "balanced XLR" cables are
superior to "unbalanced RCAs" in connecting a PRE/PRO to
    amp configuration.
What type of RCAs do they mean? Can you use a digital coax,
will that provide greater bandwidth for signal transfer.
Will a basic RCA terminated interconnect work just as well?
What about XLR to RCA terminated cables if your PRE/PRO does not have any XLR connections?
    Thanks,
    Tony

Balanced is better, though the advantage is most dramatic when long lenths of cable are required. I'm moving this to "Advanced", I think you'll get better answers there.
