IGN gave it a disappointing 7.7. I was looking forward to this game. The last game I bought was Splinter Cell, and I am thinking of one or tow games to get for Christmas vacation. Manhunt and XIII are high on my list, but now I'm not sure about XIII.

The main gripe seems to focus on weak AI:

I downloaded the multiplayer and single player demos. I really liked the single player demo even though it was short. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay was fun and voices were great.

The multiplayer was only deathmatch which is boring IMHO.

I am very tempted to buy it for PC, since HL2 and Doom 3 are not coming out this year.

    John,

Take a chill pill. There is no such thing as coop play for a PC game as far as I know, which is what the multiplayer demo being discussed is regarding.

Nobody has confirmed no coop for the Xbox version. You're right, though, all shooters should have that feature.

To reel this thread back in, I'd like to hear a review from someone who doesn't look to rate the games on some scale other than it was fun or not fun. That's one of the problems that I have with game magazines. Unfortunately, I have vowed to buy Max Payne 2 followed by The Return of the King before I can move on to XIII.

It got a 6.5, 6.5, 6.5 from the three reviewers in EGM.

The main gripe that was consistent through all 3 reviews was that the AI sucks. Rather than being smart and using cover like in Halo and other more recent FPS's, they are simply "complete dead eye dicks" was how they phrased it. Apparently they decided to make the game hard simply by having enemies never miss you. [IMG]

I checked GameRankings.com and XIII got good reviews from everywhere but EGM. It seems that it's a bit tough, but that's all.

I'm curious as to how well the "graphic novel" presentation works into the game. For screenshots and limited footages the boxouts look cool, but I wonder if at some point they start to become annoying.

I tried it for the Xbox. The graphics seem interesting. It plays out like Half-life where there really isn't a cut scene(sometimes) and the story moves itself in the game. But I got bored with it after I hit the third(?) stage(it's the snow stage).

I got bored in the same spot, and haven't played it in a week. I might try to finish it off this weekend. It seems like a competent, but straightforward shooter. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either.
