XBR Sony worth it? (1 Viewer)

I have a 36" Toshiba direct view and was wondering if the new sony xbr 4:3 tv's are worth the upgrade. I'm wondering mostly if the ability to view anamophic widescreen is really any good on these sets. How would i get the full 16:9 image on a 4:3 set?

Actually i'm more interested in the regular wega's not the xbr's.

I have the 32" XBR.

Anamorphic DVDs are shown with a letterbox, but at full resolution.

It is my understanding the same is true for WS Hidef material, but I don't have a HD tuner yet.
