XBox - Third party controllers and problems (and my experience) (1 Viewer)

I'm curious as to whether anybody's had issues with third party controllers on their XBox.

Here's my example: I recently bought a MadCatz MC2 Racing Wheel (XBox version) which exhibited periodic controller disconnects (causing the game to stop). I exchanged it for another, with the same problem. A quick Google search shows that many other people have encountered this problem. So it made me wonder whether the "fault" lies with MadCatz or M$.

Should we all be wary of third party controllers? It seems unbelievable that a manufacturer could ship a product with this kind of bug if it were known! Is M$ "drifting" the specs and tolerances of the controller section in the XBox?

MadCatz stuff has always seemed kind of dodgy to me. I'd suspect them. Their basic Xbox controller is pretty decent though.

FWIW: got a different (brand) wheel, and it works like a charm.
