Good news found at the XenGamers site . It would seem that XBOX software is also selling well. This makes me very happy :b .

There is pretty much zero interest in Xbox right now. Gamecube is doing very well though not nearly well enough to challenge PS2.And what hard facts is this based on? The thread is about sales of the XBox going up 131% since the price drop and you say there is zero interest in it. I have seen the XBox sales described as a success in the U.S., though slightly disappointing, but zero interest? This huge increase in sales is just the shot in the arm MS needed to hold it over until its game library increases and the holiday season approaches. I expect a huge holiday season for the XBox, as well as for GC and PS2, with the price drop and increased sofware titles.
Statistics do not lie as it now looks like the market was big enough for 3 hardware consoles after all. As long as the XBox keeps selling millions of consoles, MS will bide its time (even if its in 3rd place) and put pressure on for better games and hope for better luck with XBox2.
I expect a huge holiday season for the XBox, as well as for GC and PS2Hardware-wise, I'm not sure that the PS2 can have a good holiday season. It's selling so well that there won't be anybody left who doesn't want one by this holiday season.
Should we bring up those sales figures from Japan that showed the PSOne outselling the X-Box?Why do the most innocuous threads dealing with the smallest XBOX success stories always attract the same fan-boy responses? Are you people so insecure that it bothers you to read something slightly positive about the XBOX or are you simply immature teenagers? Grow up people! This thread was simply started so that people who own a XBOX (or may actually be considering buying one!) have something to feel good about.

And what hard facts is this based on?Ask Camp where he works, and you'll know the answer to that one...![]()

Statistics do not lieCorrect. People just read them wrong.
A 131% increase sounds impressive until you see how poorly it was selling to begin with. I should define "poorly", shouldn't I? Xbox has sold well enough for us to still be excited about the potential revenue in games & accessories. However, if I said we were more excited about the 3rd & 4th Q sales of GCN & PS2 products that would be a friggin huge understatement.

I'm asking because while I don't doubt that all three systems are doing well, the stores in my area seem to have success with different systems based on their particular clientele. Toys R Us sells more Gamecubes I assume because of the "kid friendly" image both the store and GC share, but in all the EBs I've gone into the Xboxen are selling well while the GC sections have shrunk steadily, possibly because stores like that seem to attract predominantly older customers who aren't necessarily parents. But for whatever reason, that is how the retailers I've spoken with describe the situation. Toys R Us have had little success with Xbox, but EBX, Software Etc., CompUSA can't move GCs. It struck me as interesting.
I'm curious: Is this a company-wide assessment or just for the area you work in?Excellent question. There are certainly pockets where Xbox performs very strong. However, throughout the company Xbox is clearly the 3rd place console. I could provide numbers to back up my post but I'm not going to.
You make some excellent points about the performance of Xbox at other retailers. Certainly, Gamecube will perform well at Toys R Us because of Mom's influence. I would agree that our customer base makes it tough for Microsoft to compete. I would also agree that, based upon what I know and numbers I've seen, that EB and other specialty retailers do a higher percentage of Xbox sales (versus other consoles). However, TRU puts more consoles in people's homes than anyone outside of Walmart and their 4,000 locations. So, while I would never claim to speak for the whole retail industry I can comment from the perspective of a major player.
Anyhoo, I think that GameCube sales will pick up with Mario Sunshine or Metroid or any one of "those" titles, but I'm not sure which X-Box game(s) coming this year would really have a similar effect on XB sales.I would never underestimate the baser instincts of a buying population.
I expect that DOA Volleyball is going to sell quite a few consoles. It basically allows you to play the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue as a game.
If gameplay is decent and it offers the hinted-at suit-less later levels, this might prove to be the next big deal. Just MHO.
