You would have thought the brilliant minds of Microsoft would have foreseen the need for retaining the basic BIOS IR support, but I guess they were more afraid of people with programmable remotes simply buying an IR header and bypassing their lamo remote.

I don't remember where I read this, but the "official" PR answer to a lack of the power and eject buttons on both the Xbox and PS2 remotes is both systems are first and foremost games systems, and there's a fear of damaging a game/memory card if there's an accidental power reset or ejection. I'm sure you've seen those warnings when your saving or loading games.

Sounds like a lazy BS answer to me but that's the official word. I too would love an eject and power button for my PS2, but what can you do. :rolleyes
