I have been in both Best Buy and Circuit City yesterday and did not see the XBox live Communicator anywhere. Are they basically on back order after the initial release. I would like to get set up on line over the holidays but haven't been able to find it.

    Thanks
    Todd

IIRC the first run sold out right away. I've seen more in stores since then however. You may want to try someplace like EB.

They are admittedly hard to find, but looking around should pay off sooner or later. Try a Toys R' Us or Kaybee's Toys store if EB or Gamestop or Gamecrazy don't pay off. Good luck!

The EB I work at has had a pretty constant stream of Live kits since the initial launch. I think we ran out on this past Sunday, but the the the first time in awhile.

I've been seeing Live kits everywhere around here, both in specialty stores and bigger chain stores. Just depends on your area I guess.

What does the box look like. In other words is it a large box like the XBox itself or in smaller plastic like an extra controller.

It's a cardboard box, slightly larger than a keepcase

You can also sign up online. Go to:
    www.xbox.com/LIVE/now/
Follow the links and you can get your account registered. They will send you the disc and communicator in the mail. I have no idea how long this takes, but I toyed with the idea last week. Fortunately, I found a regular kit at Babbages (owned by GameStop).
