I just got one of these Xantech 791-44 expansion block and I don't think it's working. It's receiving signals as I can see the red LED is blinking whenever I press a button on the Marantz RC9200 remote (I'm using the RF to IR module from Marantz).

However, on the dual emitters, none of them is firing and I get the lighted emitters and no light at all.

I'm not sure if it's just bad luck I got a bad unit?

Anything I can try to troubleshoot?

    Thanks for your help,

    Simon

Are you trying to wire the Marantz RF receiver directly to the expansion block, or are you using an IR receiver?

    CJ,

The Marantz RF receiver has 4 IR emitters out but I need more for all the gears I have. So I bought this expansion block and I take a mini-jack cable to go from one of the emitters from Marantz to Xantech IR Receiver IN.

I can confirm Xantech is receiving signals as there's a LED on the Xantech blinks whenever I hit a button on the Marantz remote. However, none of the output emitters work on the Xantech.

    Thanks,

    Simon

    CJ,

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

I actually have the Xantech Hidden Link which has the expansion block - 789-44. It works fine with the Marantz RF receiver and I was hoping the 791-44 would work just the same and swap them out.

Looks like it may not be this easy.

    Thanks again for your information.

I was playing around again tonight and found out I need to use a stereo mini-jack cable into the 491-44. However, the cable I was using for 489-44 is only a mono mini-jack cable. I tried a stereo cable but no difference. I wonder somehow the Marantz device takes mono only?

They are willing to swap with another Xantech but I'm just trying to find out more information.

    Thanks,

    Simon

Also, note that in the last link I showed you, the person had to put the mono cable into the high output jack!

    CJ,

I went through that thread on RemoteCentral but I'm going from the Marantz to the Xantech so I don't see why plugging into the Xantech Output would work.

    Thanks,

    Simon

I know- me neither. However, the person posting is a custom installer who installs several hundred systems a year and does know what he's talking about. You might want to respond directly to the post or PM him.

    CJ,

    You're the best [IMG]

I plugged the Marantz RF out into Xantech High IR Out and it works.

I'm about a bald man now trying to figure out this weird connection [IMG]

    Thanks again for your assistance.

I don't know the reasoning either- just glad it worked out for you.
