Never have seen it, but it might be worth a blind buy, for morbid curiosity. I do have a few films that are laughably atrocious.

I can't stand "Can't Stop the Music. " It makes 'Xanadu' look like 'Gone With the Wind' in comparison.

This edition has been put together with such attention to its fandom - it's stacked with bonus material. May I add the original theatrical 4.0 stereo mix that was a no-brainer to hit the pre-order button so fast it would make your head spin.

Also, I've been in love with Olivia Newton-John since the age of 10 - I love her in this more than I did in 'Grease'.

Great double feature with Can’t Stop The Music.
Suck on this, John J.B. Wilson...

While I personally feel it's unwise to give Anti-Prizes to Cast or Crew Member
It certainly is wise to give a Shakespearian Actor the give raspberry, rather than giving it to the "Blue Lagoon" boys or an Opera singer and certainly to a Bodybuilder.

"Money Dear Boys."

What the heck are you trying to say? It has no connection to my post you quoted. I was referring to both using Disco music.

That may be true, my post was aiming at the Anti-Prizes and my distaste by saying to John J.B. Wilson (the founder) to "Suck on this" the and dilemma of the Razzies.

For context.

A) John J.B. Wilson founder of Razzie Awards saw a Double Bill of both Can't Stop the Music [Worst Picture] and Xanadu [Worst Director] and gave them an Anti-Prize as mentioned.
B) Laurence Olivier won a Razzie for Worst Actor in a Leading Role for Inchon (1981-1982), he won the nomination over:

- Arnold Schwarzenegger [Conan the Barbarian]
- Luchiano Pavarrotti [Yes, Giorgio]
- Willie Aames [Paradise and Zapped!]
- Christopher Atkins [The Pirate Movie]

I'll referred Christopher Atkins and Willie Aames as "The Blue Lagoon boys" because Atkins appeared in the with it's namesake and Willie Aames appeared in Paradise is (as Leonard Maltin referred it put, IIRC) "a rip-off of [The Blue Lagoon].

Did that Answer your question?

They also did Sgt. Pepper'sa Lonely Hearts Club Band.

There's no accounting for taste here.
Marvel never released the Sgt Pepper adaptation in the US or in English. Xanadu was released in the US.

To be fair, I think movie people thought Xanadu was going to be huge.

Yeah, I have to imagine that when Universal got the movie going, they weren't expecting the bubble to burst on disco as quickly as it came. Same for Marvel when they decided to adapt it. Also, it didn't help that the movie isn't good. :)

Not really. That was so off topic from what I posted.

Surprised at all the negativity here. Is Xanadu a great movie? No. But the music is great, it's bright, colorful and fun. It has a huge cult status (it was even turned into a Broadway musical) and its fanbase is big. Hence, its many incarnations on physical media from VHS to Beta to RCA CED disc to laser disc to DVD to blu ray and now UHD. Not bad at all for a movie "nobody wanted to see".

I think we need to separate the soundtrack from the movie.

The soundtrack is pure 80's gold.

The movie is, frankly, an atrocity, full of half-baked, badly conceived musical numbers that never come together.

Kelly's dancing is his most anemic.

There's no inspiration here. And the roller derby finale only makes one reminisce for the spectacular "I Like Myself" number Kelly also did on roller skates nearly thirty years before in It's Always Fair Weather.

If I had a choice of Parasite, Anora or Xanadu. Xanadu is what I would watch because for me it is the best of the 3.
