Apart from the Indy Boxset, the EE of Two Towers and Pirates of the Carribean there's only X-Men 2 to look forward to.
Speak for yourself. There are more DVDs on my list to buy than I have money for. Waiting a little longer for X2 doesn't bother me a bit, considering I don't want the double dip to happen again...

Ultimately, you want both "X-Men" and "X-Men 1.5". They both have exclusive extras, the only way you can get all the extras is to own both. However, if you only want one of them, "X-Men 1.5" is the way to go. It's clearly the better of the two.

The extras are better on the 1.5 disc, than on the first disc anyway, IMO. I did like the Charlie Rose interview excerpts on the first disc, but there's only like 2 minutes of total interview time, so it's not that big of a deal missing out.

The 1.5 second disc has a great big-ol' documentary that has the feel of the Magnolia/Episode 1/Daredevil on set documentaries. Very good stuff.

I read somewhere something about the transfer looking a little better on X-Men than on X-Men 1.5. So for me, I'm more concerned about that than the extras, so I opted for X-Men.

From DVDFile's review of 1.5:

"In fact, this transfer is the same as on the previous DVD"

If there's no audio commentary on the original DVD then we can be sure that there will be a 'X2.5: X-Men United'.

Don't worry, you can definately expect that list of extras to grow. Those are just the ones classified so far, nice to see an hour long documentary included though. I'm getting sick of all the ten minute promotional features!

well, as ever, Tom's great site is the first with the artwork & I'm sure if he's not THE first, he'll be one of the first with the announcement.

Here's a taster of the art

but got to DVD Answers for the full size images

I think technically, the dvd could hold its own against Nemo, but it would seriously affect it. The highest grossing movie of the year? X2 was one of the year's big moneymakers, but it's kind of the runt of the 200 million set. The release would be bound to get less press.

Novemeber would be after all the big action blockbusters of the year anyways, so they might as well put some distance in there.

From what I'm hearing, Fox will officially announce X2 one week tomorrow (on August 19).
Yeah, that's what I've heard as well. Apparently there's also an embargo on posting artwork etc for it now but it's probably a bit too late as most sites have already posted it! Still, I imagine the region four disc will be identical to the region one disc, just trying to find if it'll carry a DTS track or not! They included one for Daredevil so I don't see why they wouldn't here.

If Fox is smart they will wait for the 25th, just to get those Christmas shoppers (which I assume they are doing).
