I bought an X1 1 week ago with a 14 day trial period, and it has the 4.1 firmware, needs to be updated to the 4.3 version. How hard is it to do, and what is the cable I would need to do it? Do you hook up X1 to your computer and download from Infocus' website? If I took it back to Circuit City(where I bought it) could they do it for me? Do all projectors require periodic firmware updates? Thanks.

Until you've decided to keep it I wouldn't upgrade the software.

    Go here
and download it, read the instructions.

    Pretty simple really.

Why does it NEED to be updated? the only thing 4.3 adds is less susceptibility to loosing sync on a HD signal.

Don't upgrade it unless you need to. The upgrades only address a couple of specific problems that come up. If you're not having problems, leave it alone.

And all you need is a standard USB cable. I swiped the one from my cable modem for a few minutes.

Nick, I want to hook it up to my Dish Network 811 HD receiver. I think I'll check if Circuit City would do it(that's where I bought it). Thanks.
