Fans of X-MEN have reason to be excited.

I just received my screener copy of X-MEN 1.5.
I have only gotten through the main feature on disc
one, but from what I have seen, this is going to be
a set that is going to be talked about for quite
    some time.

I know many of you were very disappointed that there
was no Special Edition from the getgo, but I think
that what you will find contained in this new 2-disc
set will more than make up for the loss.

I'll be spending most of tomorrow going through
the supplements on disc two as well as putting
together a very thorough review of this set, but
I will tell you that watching X-MEN 1.5 is
an entirely new theatrical experience thanks to
the enhanced viewing mode that lets you
watch deleted scenes and production pieces while
watching the film, simply by branching off from
    the main feature.

While the deleted scenes didn't really add much
to the film experience, I thought the production
shorts were outstanding. You are literally taken
to various soundstages and film locales to see how
your favorite scenes were pieced together.

Though the transfer hasn't seemed to improved
upon the old (you can't improve perfection), the
new DTS mix really opens up the sound field, making
this a sonic experience worth waiting just a little
    bit longer for.

I'll have the complete review up by the end of 1/21.

Looking forward to the full review. Originally I was not even going to give this title a look, but after the quick preview I might have to change my mind. It will be interesting to see if the extra features and DTS track will be worth the upgrade.

No question about me getting this. I was really bummed when the extended cut was dropped but I was still determined to get it. Ron, your preview has only made me more anxious. can't wait for the full review.

I love the X-men and the film was great but if i keep replacing and upgrading my DVD collection then i'll have doubles and triples of most of my titles. I won't be picking this one up unless Ronald's review somehow manages to sway me!

Any word on whether or not all the extras from the original disc are present on this release? I have a feeling that not all extras are duplicated, so if that's the case I'll have to hold onto my old one in addition to buying the new version.

Ron I look forward to your Review, but I don't know if I can justify a double dip on this one. While I appreciate they are somewhat incorporating the deleted scenes into the movie I question doing this thru seemless branching, a feature that inevitably never works right across all players. I Know on mine the branching will cause a hiccup that will make the DTS/DD unlock momentarily. Why could'nt they just make the film a new revised version since the original is out already anyhow. I'll be interested to see if the deleted scenes are anamorphic I don't believe they were last time. And are there more of them I remember this movie was heavily edited down from it's original running time I think by 47 min and there was not that many deleted scenes the first go around. I Still get the feeling that there's still a definitve version out there coming sometime, maybe the 1.5 in the title suggests that

I just read over at DVD File that the deleted scenes that branch into the main film (6 in all sounds the same) are once again not anamorphic. So unless you have to have the DTS track I'd say skip this release. Fox promised a longer cut and reneged, and it really sounds like they are trying to shovel the same disk on you again with a few minor changes. Why not at least make the deleted scenes anamorphic? How can branching be seamless if your distracted by looking at a crappy non anamorphic deleted scene? Never mind the technical issues involved in seamless branching. I'll pass.

i for one am interested in getting this release mainly more for what's on disc 2. From what i remember reading, Brian Singer had the whole production documented on video, so i'm pretty certain at least the extra features will be good.
