It seemed that WB finally realized that people were enjoying buying these. So far they've released all of Season 1 and 2, in several 3-4 episode releases. But the last release was way back on 11/23/2004, and we've heard nothing at all about Season 3 (and of course 4) coming anytime soon. So I figured I'd put this out there, in case someone had some news. Maybe even the folks from TVShowsonDVD and Animated Bliss might be able to chime in with some news. Hopefully something is on the schedule for the next couple months.

Season 3 consisted of 13 episodes, just like the first season. These could easily be released on four DVD's, just like the previous seasons. Which would leave the 9 episodes for Season 4 for another three releases.

    Season 3:
    31. 3-1 31 14-Sep-2002 Day of Recovery
    32. 3-2 32 21-Sep-2002 The Stuff of Heroes
    33. 3-3 33 28-Sep-2002 Mainstream
    34. 3-4 34 05-Oct-2002 The Stuff of Villains
    35. 3-5 35 19-Oct-2002 Blind Alley
    36. 3-6 36 02-Nov-2002 X-Treme Measures
    37. 3-7 37 09-Nov-2002 The Toad, The Witch and The Wardrobe
    38. 3-8 38 16-Nov-2002 Self Possessed
    39. 3-9 39 30-Nov-2002 Under Lock & Key
    40. 3-10 41 02-Aug-2003 X23
    41. 3-11 42 09-Aug-2003 Dark Horizon (1)
    42. 3-12 43 16-Aug-2003 Dark Horizon (2)
    43. 3-13 40 23-Aug-2003 Cruise Control

    Season 4:
    44. 4-1 44 30-Aug-2003 Impact
    45. 4-2 45 06-Sep-2003 No Good Deed
    46. 4-3 46 13-Sep-2003 Target X
    47. 4-4 47 20-Sep-2003 Sins of the Son
    48. 4-5 48 27-Sep-2003 Uprising
    49. 4-6 49 04-Oct-2003 Cajun Spice
    50. 4-7 50 11-Oct-2003 Ghost of a Chance
    51. 4-8 51 18-Oct-2003 Ascension (1)
    52. 4-9 52 25-Oct-2003 Ascension (2)

I agree - but I was also just wondering why the releases like this? Most current animateds do it (the four eps or less per DVD) and it is so annoying. With older animateds they are really making great sets (such as Batman and the upcoming He-Man) - so why not current animateds? It's very annoying to have 15 X-Men evolution DVDs sitting on the shelf instead of 3-4 boxes. Any ideaS?

I think they do it, so they can price the DVD's cheaper. Which makes them an easier sell to young kids. Adults will buy a DVD boxset that runs $40+, but most of the times that's not an option of kids. It's more likely they can talk their parents into a $10-$15 dollar release, over a more expensive boxset. Or maybe even be able to afford it with their own money from allowance. I would love these released in boxsets. But I'll settle for individual DVDs, if that's the only way I can get it. [IMG]

Producer Boyd Kirkland occasionally posts at the Marvel Animation Forum. I'm almost positive that it was stated that he said that WB was considering releasing the 3rd season as a set instead of 4 episodes at at time. I expect since we haven't seen the smaller releases in a while that's GOOD new for our chances of a season set.
