The official site is saying that the street date is May 7, 2002....details to follow.

I'm really looking forward to seeing X-Files in widescreen for the first time!

    I was just wondering...

I've never watched X-Files on TV, and I'm enjoying the Season Sets. I know that the show has fallen from grace in it's later years, and I was just wondering when you guys think it is time to stop buying the seasons and say, "That's all folks!"

I am definitly going to get through season 5 and then the movie, but then what?

Thanks! (and sorry this is a little off topic!)

    Ian

As long as Fox keeps up its standard practices with the X-Files sets, you can always count on a new set in May, and again in November.
This year, April looks to be a financial bloodbath. Glad to see X-Files in May [IMG]

Ian - I have watched the show since it's inception and personally would not buy past season 5 possibly 6 but everything gets really convoluted and messed up after season 5.

I'm giving serious thoughts to cut myself off the X-Files season sets after season 5. The very last one I would consider is season 6, but no more after that.

I say this because I consider it had jumped the shark around this time. Season 7 and 8 were so-so, and sorely convoluted.

Being a "completist" I know I won't be happy if I don't own them all....even if I'm not enjoying the show nearly as much as I used to.

So I'm in it for the long haul...Season 9 in 2004 and maybe Season 10 as well?

If everyone sticks to stopping after Season 5, then they will stop at "The End"...how appropriate! [IMG]
I, myself, plan to go all the way...

Good news, I'm probably with Pat here and will seriously consider stopping at 6. Then again [IMG]

I don't know, season 5 is all over the place. It has some great episodes at the end, but it also has some awful, awful shows. I would say that if you do buy season 5 and see what I'm talking about, definitely DO NOT get the later seasons unless you can stomach those awful shows, as there are more and more of them...

According the Digital Bits, the producers filmed Season 5 in widescreen, so there is a good chance that they'll be presented in anamorphic widescreen. Sweet!

I seem to be in the minority here because I do like the later shows. Now when i say this I can't speak as throughly as you all could about them because I am a jumpy watcher until last year with the X - files. I have seen numerous ones throughout and I am never sure which season they are from and I don't own any of them due to the high price. Even though they have become more like a soap opera lately it seems I find myself enjoying the way that they are shot and all that, I think they just look a lot better than they used to. I just wanted to stick up for the later seasons since everyone was knocking them. [IMG] Besides all that, does anyone have a suggestion of the best season in your opinion to buy for my first season. (I hope to own them all at some point, once I can afford both them and the rent.)

i'm gonna stop with last years. granted it wasn't as good as earlier years, but its the last season with duchovney and i will get them til then.

i've not even had a urge to watch any of this years. i watched some the season premier, but there was nothign that made me feel like i had to sit thru the commeercials and come back to see it, like it use to do. i was also amazed by this season in the fact how much mulder carried the show. the episodes with dogget were decent and i liked them, but they just weren't 'x-files' but then the shows mulder were back on, it was like a whole new experience after having sans-mulder. anyway, thats my ramble

Well later episodes center a lot on the conspiracy. I think those are very bad episodes. But the monsters episodes don´t lost their appeal, for example the one with the worm that the people on the bus think is a god is at the same height than squeeze on season 1

    Dreamland I 604 11/29/98 Pt1) Mulder switches bodies with...

    Dreamland II 605 12/06/98 Pt2) ...a Man-In-Black from Area 51

How The Ghosts Stole Christmas608 12/13/98 On Christmas Eve in a haunted house

Terms Of Endearment 606 01/03/99 Demon tries to father a normal baby

The Rain King 607 01/10/99 A man who can control the weather?

    S.R. 819 610 01/17/99 Skinner is hospitalized by nanites!

Tithonus 609 01/24/99 Unkillable man seeks Death's gaze

Full Disclosure: Two Fathers 611 02/07/99 Pt1) The conspiracy revealed to Fox

Full Disclosure: One Son 612 02/14/99 Pt2) Rebel aliens defeat the Elders

Agua Mala 614 02/21/99 Seamonster attacks during hurricane

    Monday 615 02/28/99 Fox must end a time-looping tragedy

I'm thinking about dropping after 6, DEFINATELY after 7. I love Robert Patrick, but no Mulder/Scully= Not X-Files. And I'm out of T-1000 jokes after the season 8 pilot
