Did Fox give the X-files away for free? Both Scifi channel and TNT are both starting to air the show. And are airing it numerous times each. Talk about overplay.

It is a great show, they are trying to fill in the gap when Fox cancelled it. There are legions of fans out there who have not caught onto the DVD revolution yet and need X files!

Yea, but for some reason the programming clowns at these channels don't care about showing the episodes IN ORDER. Both channels are skipping all over the place. If there's any syndicated show that should NOT be skipping from Season 1 to 8 to 4 etc.. it's The X-Files. What a joke.

Syndication to other channels means more $$$ for Fox. They had originally sold it to... themselves to air on F/X and Fox affiliates. One reason why Duchovny sued and either left (I don't blame him since the writing was going down hill) or was kicked off the show, I hear. Part of the actors' contracts paid them syndication royalty checks. By selling the show to no one, Fox could have been sneaking around their deal (wouldn't be the first time a studio did that). At least, that's the rumor.

There is way too much overplay. Who's going to watch 4 episodes in a row twice a week?!

It wasn't a rumor. Ducovny openly sued Fox over their exclusive Syndication deals instead of an open one which Duchovny argued cost him mucho coin.

He wasn't kicked off the show, he gradually exited. He played out his contract to the end, then renegotiated (at the last minute) for a half season to be his last. The only mystery is what he got for that half season to shut him up about the lawsuit.
