Looking to buy a sony 36 or 40 xbr tube that is available for pickup in Illinois.

Too bad. I'm in Boston and have a 40" WEGA I wouldn;t mind selling. Just have a small place, and now that panels have come down soooo much.....

I love my sony 36' XBR. I thought the 40'had some issues. could be wrong but you might want to check the sony boards. lots of info there, before you purchase.

What kinds of issues? Mines been perfect so far. Which Sony board are you talking about?

just trying to help guys. heard about the purity problems when i first was looking for a sony xbr and seen how the 40' was problematic. not the 36' though. guess it also had something to do with the size of the tube. very large and prone to problems ??????

I have owned my 36XBR800 for a year now and love it! bought it new for $1100 at Tweeter. also never bought the sony stand for it as it was so much money but just recently got it for $19.97 @ citrcuit city as a close out as they dont carry the 36' anymore. actually was on sale for $49.99 new but they didnt have it in stock after selling me the last one whoch was said to be in stock so i got the floor model for $19.97 which had one little ding. good deal!!!!!

I used Agora to research some calibration stuff, but never saw the 40XBR problems. I'll look into it tonight.
I bought mine form the Tweeter in Burlington.
