Ok, here's the reason why I want an LD player: I have the Definitive Star Wars Trilogy gathering dust, and I'm itching to watch it! And I keep losing auctions on eBay, so I'm giving it a try here. I'm looking for a decent player that won't break the bank here (poor college student!). I'd like it have S-video out, a 3 line digital comb filter, and AC-3 RF output, along with either an optical/digital coax output. Ideally I'd like a Pioneer CLD-D704, but a 604+ or a similiar knockoff would be acceptable. I'm not even hooking this up to a high def or flat screen TV, so don't hold me over the coals here. I just want to watch the original theatrical versions of Star Wars in digital glory. :) I'd be happy to buy it outright, or I'd be willing to trade my Sony DVP-NS755V SACD player, either straight up or plus cash or whatever deal is made. Its not the greatest SACD player, but Dark Side of the Moon suer does sound good on it. Feel free to IM to about it (tjbartjr). Thanks!

I highly recommend checking with Kurtis. He thouroughly checks, maintenances, and tweaks the players he sells and will stand behind them if something is wrong. Buying from ebay and such you kind of take your chances on what you might get. He is extremely knowlegdable in LD repair, maintenance, and tweaking for best performance. It may cost a little more but is worth it. I'd also suggest a CLD 704.

I'd 2nd a 704, I got one from Kurtis and he fixed my CLD-79 that a deadbeat sold me on E-Bay. Just recently I took my CLD-79 back to him (he lives about 40 minutes from me) and he stood behind it and cleaned it and readjusted it. If I were looking for another player that's where I would go. I bought extra psrts (e.g. spindle motor) at his recommendation so when they need replacing that's where I will go.
