A blind friend (36 yrs old and born blind) came over to my house tonight for the first time, and of course I had to audition my system for her. [IMG]
I let her pick out the mix; S. McLaughlin "Possession" (acoustic), "Hotel California" (DTS), P. Gabriel "In Your Eyes", C. Issac "Wicked Game", and L. McKennitt "The Old Ways"... in fact most of the album The Visit, my friend wouldn't let me change out the CD. She kept saying, "No, wait, leave it". [IMG]
Her comment? She was crying and said, "I've never heard music sound so beautiful". Given the source, I take that as very high praise (I almost got choked up myself). I also promised that she could come over and listen to my system any time she wants... next time, she said she'll bring over all of her favorite discs.
Moral of the story? You never know how your life (and even hobbies) can influence others. Now go out and make a point of improving someone else's existance through this "endless waste of money" (quoting my ex-wife [IMG] ) wherein most of us seem to be to be "trapped".

    That's a very cool story!

You wouldn't mind sharing your equipment list would you? I'd like to find out what kind of gear you're using.

My list (as of today) [IMG] :
Mains - Infinity Prelude MTS (set as "large"), I love these speakers! [IMG]
CC - Infinity IL36C (set as "small")
Surrounds - Infinity IL10 (set as "small")
Sub - Acoustic Visions custom 142L Shiva (for LFE only), great sub
Pre/Pro - Integra Research RDC-7 (got it just 10 days ago, it's very sweet) [IMG]
Amplifiers - Aragon 4004MK2 (for mains), Acurus A200x5 (for CC & surrounds)
    CD transport/DVD/SACD player - Sony DVP-S9000ES
    CD changer - Sony CDP-CA80ES
    LD player - Pioneer CLD-99
    Multi-Region DVD player - Daewoo DVD-5700
Interconnects - combination of SilverCats and my own DIY cables
Speakers cables - DIY braided SPC/PTFE for mains & CC, 12AWG OFC bulk wire for surrounds
TV - mediocre 3 year-old 32" JVC (soon to get an HDTV of some sort, I'm still researching)
I'm very happy with the whole setup so far. It's surprising how well the Preludes and Interludes match, even with multi-channel music they work incredibly well together.
