    Friends,

Today I installed Audio Research tube rings on my 6922 output tubes in my VT100.

Wow! Tighter soundstage. Purer midrange, Crisper highs..

I'm in heaven. I guess eliminating microphonics matters.

And a cheapie too - $4 per ring, two rings per 6922 or 12AX7.

    No tubehead interest?

I swear this stuff works. I wanted to like transistors but I still like tube midrange better, even though the Pass Labs amps do it well.

Lee, I have all SS gear except for my phono stage. I have an EAR834P that I love. I'm currently rolling tubes to find the best combo and have also swapped the coupling caps with Hovland musicaps. I suspect I will be purchasing more tube gear in the near future. What are tube rings, I have seen tube socks. Where do you purchase? I also use 12AX7's. [IMG]

    Frank,

I bought them through Sound and Cinema, my local high end store. They are available from Audio Research for $4 each.

They are polymer rings that just fit on the end of 6922 or 12ax7 tubes and they keep the tube mechanically rigid to dampen microphonics. They work! and the tweak is so cheap I thought it would generate some interest.

A bunch of Atlanta audiophiles use them religiously on tube preamps and amps.

    Thanks for the response lee.
Do you need 2 for each 12AX7 tube?
I'd like to give them a try! [IMG]

    Frank,

Yes, that's two per tube, right on top of one another.

I found it made a BIG difference on my system.

    Enjoy,

    Lee
