So when the hell are we getting the 5800 upgrade? I have read on another forum that an upgrade could cost a grand...for that much it better be a hell of a lot more than DPL II...

I think upgrading the 5800 for 100 bucks is pretty unrealistic. Its my understanding that in order to step up to DPL II and the DTS upgrade, a chip swap and daughtercard swap is needed. If thats the case, going by what Lexicon and EAD charge, you could be looking at anywhere from 350-800 dollars. The daughtercards are pretty much outsourced, so costs should be relatively close even when going from a Lexicon to a Denon. There have been rumours floating around that when (or if) the MC-1/DC-2 platforms are upgraded to DPL II and DTS Neo, etc...the cost would be anywhere between 400 and 700.00 dollars, with a guesstimate of around 600.00 being tossed around. Pretty steep, if ya ask me.
